Pretty Little Jewelry Stand

Looking for a solution to the piles of jewelry on the top of my dresser, I came across this pretty little jewelry stand with charming antique details...

It has such sweet details and I love this for the inspiration of a bedroom.  White, gold, brown/tan, and yellows with simple patterns would create such a relaxing environment.

Vintage Silver

These silver bowls would be absolutely lovely on a side table and filled with floating spring flower buds (or maybe a bit oversized peony for the small one). Or as a dish to collect guest wishes at a celebration.  Or as a vessel for holiday ornaments.  Just saying.

Chic & Subtle Wallpaper

Wallpaper has come such a long way.  It can be so chic and pretty, but will our kids be groaning about the wallpaper choices of the early 2000's?  Either way the Martha's Vineyard Monique is absolutely pretty.  I could see this being an excellent choice for any room. And (depending on dimensions) it could be a chic and subtle table runner for a wedding reception, a pretty combination of paper and linens. Oh the possibilities with such a perfectly understated wallpaper!

Pretty Little Milk Glass

Milk glass vases have been on the blog circuit for years but I can't get enough of them.  I think they are nearly a necessity.  They are instant pretty, right?

Pretty Porcelain

Handmade porcelain is become a weakness for me.  And Samantha Robinson has a gorgeous collection that has my fingers creeping towards the credit cards...

How unpretentiously charming are these pretty little teacups?  Love them!  They are something you could keep forever...

And this vase has completely won me over with the simplicity of the white and the detail of the pattern bringing texture.  It would be so lovely with a bunch of flowers from the farmers market...

And these lights are pretty magical, no?

Everything she has online is just so beautiful.  I only wish I could stop by her shop in Australia as I have a feeling that it is beyond charming.

Rhubarb Meets Living Room

As the rhubarb season is coming to an end I have been trying to sneak it in as much as possible before berries steal the show.  It seems to me that rhubarb could be a fun inspiration for a living room... I see rhubarb as being varying shades of deep pink to light pink with a bit of a ladylike personality.  That tartness might be overpowering but balances out with white and gray as the background...

Decorate Where Least Expected

In the spirit of adding a little bit of design where it would be least expected...

Why not add a little splash of design to your, err, toilet seat?  Why not?  Heckfire has just the thing...

If you enjoy the unexpected, this is kind of a fun spin on the decals that have been all over the place as of late.  And I am sure it would make most guests, or even just yourself, smile.  Just the image stopped me in clicking-tracks as I perused Etsy and I most certainly would be amused to see this in a friend's home.  Maybe it would be cute in a kid's bathroom?  {As long as they don't aim for it...}

A Rustic Touch

A few rustic touches seem to help create an intimate atmosphere.  I always waver between loving a bit of rustic and a bit of more contemporary styling.  So when I got an email for Wispering Pines, an ecommerce site, that says to be "for the cabin" I had to check it out.  They have some cute stuff!

Wouldn't one of these hearts look pretty hanging in a kitchen window by a bit of twine?  Or maybe a collection of them would make for pretty decor at a wedding or party...

And this candle holder that does double duty as a vase is very pretty... it would fit in on the kitchen table during the week with flowers from the garden... or maybe a few hanging from a tree for an outdoor party or wedding...

And these rustic lanterns have the perfect amount of 'distressing' to add nice lived in touch...

So it looks to be a cute site for either a few pieces for the home or garden or for an upcoming wedding or party decor.  And I will keep dreaming of that cottage I am longing to own...

Mini + White for an Elegant Vase

These little mini vases from RouDesigns are such wonderful simplicity that they are just beautiful.  They would be such a pretty little detail in a variety of home styles or maybe even a table setting for a party...

One of these vases just might look pretty on this old dresser, they would be a nice modern contrast to my childhood piggy bank.

And these little salt n pepper shakers are just about perfect as they are simple yet almost unique to what your friends might have on their table (we don't want to all be the same- even down to the salt n pepper shakers, right?)...

I am very much loving the work by RouDesigns.

Dresser Facelift Completed

A couple of weekends ago we decided to give our old, hand-me-down dresser a facelift.  This dresser was Dan's childhood dresser.  It did not fit in with our bedroom but we wanted to keep it instead of replacing it as it was free!  Usually we have been setting it inside the closet so it wasn't visible but our current closet is a bit on the mini side of closets so it is out in the open and was not looking pretty...

So we added a couple coats of black paint and door knobs.  The door knobs I wanted at a favorite store were a bit out of our price range for this project (dear anthro, $8 for a door knob adds up!) so I was pleasantly surprised to find these simple white & brushed nickel ones at Home Depot for $2.30 (this was easier to swallow for this project).  So for about $30 and a couples hours worth of time, we completed our little facelift project for the dresser.  In my opinion, it looks totally different and so much better!  We didn't sand out the nicks or dents so it has a nice time worn edge to it (fitting for a dresser of it's age).

We are super happy with the outcome- it definitely looks a bit more in place with the rest of our stuff.  Facelifts for old hand-me-downs or thrifted furniture has to one of the more economical options for finishing a look or furnishing an apartment
