Meet the FlowerPup...

I can't go for long without posting about my puppies! If I can figure out the logistics and be confidant that they would sit nicely, Shelby will be the 'flowerpup' and Eddie will be the 'ringbearerpup'...

BTW, she is not suppose to be on the bed but snuck up there for a nice, sunny nap...

Imagine My Surprise...

This morning I almosted choked on my coffee as I went to one of my absolute favorite blogs... Abby at Style Me Pretty posted about my little blog! I am seriously flattered. Abby is posting more reader blogs today so you will have to check them out... there are so many awesome and inspiring blogs out there- it is amazing!

Embellished Linens

My lastest obsession is figuring out the embellishment/design that I will use for my invitations and printed materials. In hopes of finding some resources for clipart (that isn't to cartoony) I was searching on Martha Stewart and came across this article on embellishing linens with a design from your computer.

This could be an interesting way to carry elements of the design from your printed materials through to other elements. I am thinking that as I am using a garden theme I could add a little bee or flower in the corner of the napkins to go with the invites I like from White Aisle... Obviously this could take a matchy-matchy look to a whole new level and be overkill... but if done tastefully and in the right places it could also add a nice individual touch. Maybe even just adding the design to a wide ribbon that is tied on a simple white box for the favors?

There are step by step directions on Martha Stewart...

Invitation Inspiration at White Aisle

Yesterday after reading about the incredible Cambodian silk project at White Aisle posted on Style Me Pretty I spent a little time purusing the invites on their site. There were so many that are so pretty!

I completely love this one... it is the perfect design for our wedding and it really causes me to once again second guess whether I want to try to design the invites...

The 'In The Garden' design was my second favorite on their site, I love the bee!

Indie Gift Market

I am sure that most of you have heard of and may subscribe to Daily Candy. Well in the Chicago Weekend Daily Candy for today they listed the indie gift market DEPART-ment. It sounds really cool and I bet that beyond the obvious holiday presents and home decor stuff that could be found there might be fantastic and unique wedding decor. Just think of the treasures that might be found! I have family visiting this weekend so maybe I can sell them on the idea of going...

DIY Letterpress?

I was intrigued by the idea of DIY letterpress after PerfectBound mentioned the idea of taking a letterpress class. Through 'googling' I did find a class at the Columbia College here in Chicago... it seemed kind of pricy though with the cost of the class and then I would need to get the materials. Not sure that I am ready for that much investment for a DIY project.

However, I did find these step by step instructions, again through my google search, for a homemade letterpress machine.

I wish she had posted an image of the final product... I love letterpress and being able to do it myself, in a cost effective way, would be pretty fun.

Topiaries as Table Number Display

I have gone back to the Plum Party Supplies website countless times to 'visit' these mini topiaries. They are so cute.

I can see them being a great way to display the table number. Or maybe at my 'portrait station' I could use 2 of them to hold up a cute little sign between them (I think there is an image out there by MS for this). Or maybe even down the aisle... if they are the right size. What has held me back on these is that I am having a hard time visualizing the size... but they are so cute that they would have to fit in somewhere- right!?

Madeleines as Favors

I love Madeleines; especially the ones that are dipped in chocolate. I first came across them in college at the local coffee shop and now I grab a little pack of them when I treat myself to cookies with my coffee. I think they are lovely.

Since we are 95% decided on the caterer that we are going to use and the caterer is French, thus our food will be French inspired... and we are going to have macaroons on our dessert buffett... I think that these little cookies would be a perfect favor and would keep the subtheme going. We could package a trio of the traditial vanilla flavor, the chocolate dipped, and the chocolate flavored madelines in the cute little pillow boxes. I personally would enjoy getting these as favors!

I found Donsuemor that specializes in madeleines but I think that I could make them fairly easily...

Pottery Barn Decorating Classes

If I didn't have family in town this weekend I would definitely be going to the local Pottery Barn for the holiday decorating class. Sounds like fun!

Invitation Inspiration

I love this friendly, fun design set by Brown Sugar Design. The daisy image is so nicely carried through out the cocktail napkins to miniture chocolate labels. Would work very well with my garden theme.

There are so many beautiful invitations and fantastically talented designers out there. We are going to be making our invitations and I am a little nervous about this. I think that I need to start looking through knottie bios for inspiration based on what people have made themselves. I would like to start to narrow down what type of design we use so that I can be sure to carry that throughout all printed materials so all will be cohesive. I do love the way Brown Sugar Designs used a simple flower image that could be grouped and sized according to the medium.
