The Sweetest Plates

Aren't these vintage melamine plates from Michelle Smith Designs Flea Market the sweetest?

If we had a cute little summer cottage by the lake (I swear we will someday and any pretty lake will due) I would want the cupboards to be filled with sweet dishes just like these.

One Year Anniversary

It is amazing to me that it has already been a full year since when Dan and I exchanged our vows to become husband and wife...

Our wedding day was so filled with joy and that happiness of chosing to be together as life partners has carried through as theme of our relationship.  It is so much fun to look back at the photos of our wedding day, honeymoon, and various moments of the past year and to remember how giddy we felt at calling each other 'husband' or 'wife.' I hope we can keep that giddiness and the joy from just being together throughout our lives.

It is lovely to look back on such a happy day and so exciting look forward and try to imagine what might lay ahead.  Marriage is such a beautiful thing.

Anthropologie Styled Weekend

Wouldn't it be lovely to live in an Anthropologie catalog...  their new photos are as beautiful as I have come to expect.  They have such a talented marketing department that brings to life the lifestyle messaging spot on.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend and that it is your own version of an anthropologie styled couple of days...  I personally will be spending the weekend reminiscing over the past year but more on that Monday.

BabyCakes

I may or may not have just stayed up until 2am baking mini-cupcakes...

Around 9pm I desperately needed to do something other than be on a computer and really wanted to make something.  So I have had this cake recipe on my list to try for cupcakes... and yet my regular size cupcake liners were a big ole Fail.  So babycakes it is! (If you can't tell from the photo- these are bite sized.)

Now I have 2 containers of mini-cupcakes packed up to take to the office tomorrow and another one in the freezer... Anyone want a mini-cupcake?

Holding on to Summer

Is it just me or does the pressure to keep moving to the next thing seem to be getting stronger and stronger?  Maybe it is because I am (achem) slightly older and notice such things... maybe I am either too receptive to advertising or am now more tuned in to my inner decision to avoid such messaging.  Regardless, I am putting up a full resistance to start thinking ahead to fall.  Sure those fresh school supplies are lovely... but so are the fresh produce stands at the farmers market.

And while draw of fresh merchandise is great and the sneak peaks for fall styles look lovely... another picnic under a leafy tree out in the sunshine will keep spirits high for weeks...

or perhaps there is a quintessential summer activity that we have not fit in yet that just really should be fit in before we buy anything made from wool...

So I am just going to hold on to summer a bit longer if I may...  In the spirit of enjoying what we have at hand and loving the green grass that is underfoot.

Oh, Hello Lovely Package Exchange!

I was seriously excited when I saw in my reader that Oh Hello Friend is hosting a package exchange!!!  Of all the cute little exchange ideas this is at the top of the list!  I promptly signed up...

And now of course I am already fretting what prettiness I can find to create a lovely little package...

But I do love having a little project to dwell on and frett over. {and as I am feeling very blah today this was just what I needed!}  Head over to Oh Hello Friend to sign up!

Estate Sale

Sometimes the perfect element to tie together the packaging of a gift can be found through a box of tid bits.

Or you have a little crafty project in mind (maybe a small token for favor at a luncheon) and need just a little something...

Something like you might find in a forgotten box of crafty treasures...

I am loving the Estate Sale collection via Lobster and Swan.  It is helping me escape the reality of Monday and head off to a little world where I might be crafting or boxing up little scraps and odds-n-ends for a discovery some other day.

Colors of Summer

Friday in the summer is a wonderful thing, full of promises for blue skies, puffy white clouds, green grass, sunshine and sunsets... along with all those little colorful and summery details like red berries, summer toned accessories, and crisp colored dishes...

Have wonderful and colorful weekend, lovelies!

Be My Hero

You may have noticed a certain beagle mix and shephard mix that appear in my weekend snippets and even my wedding recaps... I am crazy about my pups.  My love for animals has lead me to become an advocate for animal adoption and a supporter of organizations that strive to help homeless animals.  Generally, I keep the content pretty light on In This Instance but I feel so passionate about helping homeless animals that when I saw the post on The Martha Blog on Be My Hero I really needed to share this MSL initiative with you all.

Of course when I start thinking about adopting animals it makes me all nostalgic - it is just over 7 years ago that Dan and I adopted our little beagle mix, Shelby, from a shelter and 6.5 years since we adopted our Australian shephard mix, Eddie.  They have brought so much joy to our lives that I can't imagine that they were once left in a box along the road (that was Shelby's story).  Here are  few photos from when we first got them...

So if you are thinking about adding a dog or cat to your family, shelters are great places to include in your search for that addition to the family.

Market Chic Table Decor

I kind of want to throw a lunch or dinner party and be a complete copycat of this Sunday Supper. I love the details that are so incredibly unfussy and inexpensive yet thoughtful and pretty...

It is market chic perfection and yet there are many ways that you could make this your own with variations of the details... silver, vintage vessels for the florals, white milk glass pieces, tomato red florals, etc.  Can't you just see yourself chatting away a summer evening with friends at this comfortable table?  Love it.
