Moving the Nest

We are in the midst of moving our nest.  Even though we move A Lot, I always forget how much work it ends up being... and how it tends to make doing anything besides cleaning, packing/unpacking, painting, debating optimal cabinet for spices, and eating pizza nearly impossible.  We are only moving to the unit above where we currently live but it has been an unexpectedly equal amount of work for such a short move distance.  I have post ideas scribbled in my notepad and hope to be back here soon!

Sunday Edition, Volume 4

Volume 4 of 2010, January 17th - 23rd

The 365 project was very hard this week!  We were so busy with apartment searching and I had a freelance project to finish up on top of the day job so most of my photos were snapped at the very end of the day.  I found myself wracking my brain for something to take a photo of right before bedtime.

I am thinking about getting a D-SLR Neoprene Pouch so that I can take my camera to work with me and then sneak out for a lunch break to take photos.  It would be nice to include more of my day in this exercise and dragging around a camera bag, handbag, and gym bag while commuting via the El is less than ideal.  (If anyone has used one of these I would love to hear any thoughts on them)  Anyways....

Have a lovely week!

Presenting Sweet Treats

After you spend hours baking and decorating a cake (or cupcakes) you kind of want an equally pretty stand to present, no?  Or maybe even just a pretty dish to dress up for sharing a few everyday cookies.

Rosanna has such pretty dishes.  I could see using these to present sweet treats for years to come.

Fresh Colors for a Wednesday

Happy hump day!  After just having a three day weekend, I am ready for the next weekend!  Terrible, right?

Flickr favorites can be such a glimpse into an overarching mood for a brief period of time.  Right now I am drawn to fresh feeling colors to help brighten the winter days...

My flickr favs are here.

Make the Bedroom Dreamy

I love the approach of "use your personality as the guide" for decorating and where better to reflect your personal style than in the bedroom.

Lately I have been loving light, white, and blue.  And simple always is a winner in my book!

That table in the first image has me swooning, even though it would not fit in with any of our current furnishings!  But little things like a pillow case with a pretty trim or a fresh patterned lampshade would be such simple ways to freshen up the bedroom.

Sunday Edition, V 1-3

For 2010 I decided to do a 365 project.  Photography flew to the top spot for my hobbies during 2009 and so it was the clear winner for a 365 project.  Plus it is something that I can fit into a small 5-10 minute window during the day and on the weekends, when I have more time, I can upload all the photos from the week.  At first I didn't plan on sharing the photos here as posting a photo day was less than likely to happen.  But then my ah-ha moment came to me with doing a weekly post.

So Sunday Edition will be a snippet of my week.  A glimpse, if you will, into a small little moment of my day.  I do not pretend to even be close to an amateur photographer.  I am a hobbyist for certain.  I get so much pleasure out of snapping photos. I may share a little synopsis of the week sometimes.

Winter is my least favorite season.  While I do enjoy the snow, I really dislike the limited the hours of sunshine and highly dislike being cold.  As it is dark when I get up and dark when I get home and the first couple of weeks of 2010 were Cold, many of the photos were taken inside and sans natural light.  My tripod is my friend right now.

Volume 1-3 of 2010, January 1st through January 16th

So far I am loving the 365 Project.  It has been a challenge to find the creative energy on some of the more "shut in" work days.  However, there is beauty in the everyday, right?

Even more of me...

I am so excited to say that I am a new contributing blogger at Elizabeth Anne Designs Living! My first post went up yesterday.

My plan is to share crafty projects and nesting ideas over at EADL.  With a move to a new apartment in our near future, nesting will certainly be front and center for me.  And I have a few crafty type projects up my sleeve right now so those posts will be coming soon.

What about In This Instance?  For now I plan to keep the randomness going strong in this little space.  You might remember that one of my  new year goals for this space is to find a focus.  So more on that very soon.

So for now, if you haven't been over at EADL, there are some amazing women blogging there and it would be a perfect way to spend a lazy weekend day to peruse through the site.  I would being willing to bet that you will leave it feeling very inspired!

And remember, tomorrow will be my first "Sunday Edition"post!  So happy weekend and I hope to see you tomorrow!

Pretty Little Finds

Have I ever mentioned that I love online window shopping?  I just love stumbling upon some pretty little accent. Online window shopping is a particularly nice escape after an especially gruelling week.

These baby booties from HappySolez are seriously pretty.  If I had a little baby girl I would have bought them in a second.  They would make a cute addition to a shower gift...

And I am quite smitten by this pretty little ring from Kyle Anne Metals, it is the perfect blend of simple with a little pop.

And I adore this vase.  Quite honestly I like almost everything in Coucou Madame's shop.

Sometimes pretty little touches are just so fun to browse and to ponder how they might fit into your collection.

Is it really Friday?

Ummm... where did this week go?  I had all kinds of plans for blogging and personal projects.  And didn't have nearly enough hours this week.  So I am sitting my little bum down this weekend and not getting up until I catch up. What are your plans for the weekend? Something fun I hope!

And..... I am starting a Sunday edition.  Here is a little sneak peak...

Enjoy your weekend!

Surviving Winter: A Few Key Layers

It is cold out there!  We are in a 16 day stretch of below freezing temps and we aren't even half way through January!  I am really not a fan of being cold.  So I have been adding lots of layers lately.

To make it through a cold winter it is much easier to accept that long johns might have to be part of your outfit on a few days.  At least there are options that don't add bulk but still keep you nice and warm.

Cuddleduds are a long time stand by.  I like these Cuddle Duds Ecosoft pants .

Smartwool socks have also become a standby.  They keep your toes nice and toasty warm.  If you live anywhere with remotely cool weather you should get a pair or two.  I just added these cute, stripy knee high to my collection.

And of course, a girl can't have too many pairs of tights... I tend to be hard on tights and they never last very long so I prefer a more economical option most of the time.  These cable knit ones from Gap are a nice addition.

With any luck, the rest of this winter will be filled with sparkling snow and easy going temps.  Either way, keep warm!
