Vosges Discount In Time For Mother's Day

I am sneaking a post in during my "blogging vaca" to share a discount at Vosges Haut-Chocolat as you can still sneak in your order in time for Mother's Day. Vosges is a new sponsor on In This Instance and they have a sweet little discount that I thought you may be interested in for any gifts you may have to give during May.

Vosgues chocolate goodies are such a special, yummy indulgance that I personally find them to be a quite lovely gift.  Such superb quality wrapped in a lux little purple hatbox... They have a pretty little collection of Mother's Day chocolate gifts.

Or maybe one of these incredible looking, indulgant little mini-cakes will help make mother's day special...

You can receive 10% off an order of $60 or more until May 28th using the promo code 294WB1.  Final shipping schedules for Mother's Day are:

- Ground shipping will be Monday 4th
- 2 day will be Wednesday 6th and
- Next day Thursday 7th

Enjoy!

Blogging Vacation

I am going to take a little vacation from blogging for a while... I may write a post or two here and there but am hoping to find a little breathing room so I can re-center.

Hope you are all enjoying your spring!

Invitations for the Baby Shower

We are planning another baby shower- this time for my sister.  This shower is a little varied from the traditional as my sister had her baby boy a week ago.  She wanted to have the shower after baby's arrival so everyone can meet him during his first visit to Iowa all the way from Maine and we are inviting the men so it is really a co-ed shower.

The theme has been evolving from the mom's desire to have it reflect "baby's first visit to Iowa" and be in the colors of blue and red.  We ultimately decided to use gingham, include a graphic "stitching" detail, and a spring chick graphic.  I spent many hours flipping through iStock and settled on the little just hatched spring chick.

For the envelopes, I kept the stitching detail in the paper for the liners and in the labels that wrap over the top.  I took these photos at night so they are kind of dark and I was pretty happy that the post office had the red heart stamps as they fit in quite nicely... but I was on a deadline so the stamps were added right there at the post office!

I hope the guests like them and are now as excited for the shower as I am!  Our next shower related projects include making mints, hemming table overlays, and the blue and red banner... and of course whatever else I think of along the way!

Earth Day: How Earth-Friendly Are We?

I love Earth Day and its mission but gone are the days where I could participate by having my teachers coordinate the trash pick up day or by writing an essay on recycling for my homework... It is part of my to do list for this year to add in more earth friendly practices and I haven't done a great job of that (I just mailed out baby shower invites complete with a backing and envelope liners!).  This year for Earth Day the hubby and I are going to spend a little time thinking through what earth friendly lifestyle changes we can make and actually stick with as the consistency is what I see as being key.  There are loads of articles out there on this topic... Real Simple has a nice one as does iVillage.

Whatever your plans for today are I hope they include something earth friendly!

Green Shoes Round Up

By reader request, here is a round up of green shoes that just might complete of a bride's wedding day ensamble.  Shoes are such a fantastic way to bring in a flash of color (especially if wearing a white or ivory gown) and fun.  Whether you go for sassy, sexy, or more modest shoes, there is something out if you do a bit of digging.  While I am not finding a huge volume of green shoes out there, there are enough to give options for a variety of styles... a sexy, strappy heel to a primp pump.  Some of these would look fantastic with a little black (or navy) dress.  For the most part, they are within a fairly reasonable price range.

My first stop was ShopStyle where I found the most options by searching through the category for pumps.  These are my favorite on this site (click on the image to head to the site)...

J.Crew at ShopStyle

Here are a few more that just might work depending on your dress style...

{Lori's Shoes, Yoox, Yoox, Zappos}

I am already bookmarking yellow shoes for the next round up!

Smitten Boutique & Magnificent Milestones

The lovely ladies behind Smitten Boutique and Magnificent Milestones have teamed up to create a fantastic and comprehensive suite of event design and planning services here in Chicago.  I had to share these finds with the Chicago readers...

There is something about wedding planning where you just envision yourself in pretty little shops filled with inspirational goodness... but if you are a Chicago bride you have undoubtedly found yourself trekking zig zag courses across the city to various places for those special wedding purchases.  This is exactly what Smitten Boutique owner, Kirstin, realized as she set out to create a beautiful, inspirational boutique where you can actually check multiple items off your list in one place.  The good news for everyone is that they also have a very lovely selection of gifts for brides, mommys-to-be, babies, and any women in your life along with a wonderful paper selection.  The shop is just gorgeous...

The Magnificent Milestones team is customer-service focused event firm in Chicago that aims to help you design a beautiful event from the initial vision creation to the day of execution.  The team brings a passion for details to the mix and their lovely gallery showcases the depth of their work.  These are just two of my favorite photos but there is so much more to see on their site...

I have a wonderful offer to share with the Chicago ladies today. Smitten Boutique and Magnificent Milestones are offering a 10% discount for consulting services, custom invitations, and anything in the Smitten boutique for In This Instance readers! Just mention this post or print and bring with you for the discount.  Enjoy!

Is is really already Monday?

What an incredibly busy weekend!  I have been multi-tasking up a storm and have finally made some progress on the continually growing list of projects.  My first priority right now {personal project wise} is my sister's upcoming baby shower.  I had the invitation comps done a long time ago but finalized and printed them this weekend and ordered the fabric for the pennant banner.  I love how multi-tasking on projects completely takes over our apartment...

So while I hate to be a person that says this... I am not ready for it to be Monday at all!  Can we have a second Sunday this week please?   This week I have a nice little special discount for the brides that I can't wait to share, then another shoe round up, and I hope to find some time to take photos of the baby shower invites to share as well.  Happy Monday!

Reusable Produce Bags

As it is almost Farmers Market season here in the midwest and as I am looking to add a new green living practice into our daily life, I have been very close to ordering these Ecobag reusable produce bags.

The only thing holding me back is I am very confident that they could be a very DIY project...  But they are pretty inexpensive so I am weighing the time for the DIY version versus just ordering them.

Sunday Morning Paper

After this busy couple of weeks and past weekends, I am looking foward to a relaxing, restful weekend complete with some quality couple time.  And of course I will be catching up and commenting on blogs (that is my version of the Sunday paper).  Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Coupons Made Current

It is rare that I talk about my work on this blog.  I occassionally do on twitter but I am pretty sure that beyond saying that I am a project manager I have never talked about any of my projects.  Well, today one of my projects launched and I think it is such a cool site and great resource that I want to share with you all...

I know that those who read or stumble upon my blog are savvy and smart individuals who get that saving money on day to day purchases is so smart it is sexy. I mean really, why not utilize a discount that is being offered for a store that you were going to buy from anyways? But I also know you are all incredibly busy and clipping coupons out of the newspaper is just not something that can fit into the limited free time. CouponCabin.com takes on all the collection of coupons and organizes them for you so they are literally a click away when you are shopping. It takes seconds and can really pay off in terms of savings.

And the stores they are receiving coupons for are those that you are most likely already shopping at: JCrew, Target, Zappos, Bluefly, Sephora, etc.  For the crafty readers there are coupons for Fabric.com and JoAnns.  For the brides there are coupons for VistaPrint and many apparel sites.  It is definitely a site worth as why not save a little money for purchase you are already planning to make and use that money toward a date night!
