Nursery Ideas

For the baby's room I have tossed around a lot of different ideas.  There are so many beautiful rooms out there and completely awesome ideas that it can be hard to narrow it down.  I love all of the vintage, DIY and modern rustic baby rooms. 

I decided to try for a room that feels fresh, bright, airy, maybe a tiny bit modern, and not too baby-ish.  For colors I am planning to go with gray, white, greens, and yellow.  

As I very slowly collect items to go in the nursery, I try to think about if it fits in with the rest of our home; the rug that I purchased I was initially thinking about for a different room.  I have been wanting an Eames-style rocking chair forever and am this close to clicking submit order for one.  The sunshine print might a little youthful for say the living room (or maybe not) but I think it could have a place in a 'big kid' room just as easily as the baby's room.

I am still finding it hard to narrow down the accessories.  For those I am going to try to wait until we get the furniture set up and have more of a sense of the room.  And I have no ideas for the curtains!  Those will probably be selected last.  Initially I thought I would do a lot of DIY for the baby's room but my interest in crafting is pretty low right now so Etsy shall be my friend.

As of now the room is still a dumping ground of random boxes from our move a few months ago but I am starting to get anxious to get started on it!

Art Block Collection

How pretty is this art block collection?  I love the mix of colors and patterns that are sure to fit into a variety of color scheme changes that might come up over time for a room.  Also loving how they blend without being overly dominant.  This is the type of thing that I could see fitting in almost any room in our home - gotta love multi-functional art!  But my first thought on these was that I would use them in the nursery...

Sprouts in Watercolor

Isn't this watercolor of sprouts so fresh and pretty?  I love simple designs and am excited to hang this one up in my new home.  The Joy of Color on etsy has lots of fresh original watercolor paintings and prints.

Cozy Fall Nights

Crisp fall weather is the makings of cozy nights at home... the kind with homemade soup for dinner.  We have been having some lovely summery like weather but the early hour for sunset has me thinking about cozy evenings...

It is that time of year where the sun starts to be a tease.  It does things like only shining brightly while you are stuck in an office or it leads you to believe that it is spring-like outside until you step out to very winter-like temps.  Maybe this only true in the midwest?  Maybe I am ultra-sensitive due to a desire for spring to hurry up and get here?  Either way, I find the sun in March to be quite the tease.

I immediately loved this print from Double Merrick way back in November when I came across it on Delphine Ephemera.  It might have to be mine.
