Healthy Newlyweds: Hiking

There are 2 things that you will almost always hear/read when you are a newlywed... date your mate and be active together to support a healthy lifestyle. As the thank yous are mailed, the extra "stuff" has been sold, and the last frozen cupcake has been eaten... we are moving full speed into married life. And we want married life to be healthy.

One of the things that we love to do is hike. Well, we loved to do it when we lived in Colorado and when we go on vacation. How do you hike in Chicago where it is flat as flat can be?

At the book store over my lunch hour I found the book "60 Hikes Within 60 Miles: Chicago" and purchased it immediately. This book is part of a series that covers several cities as can be seen here.

Hiking is such great exercise and without the distraction of TVs and PCs it qualifies as quality couple time. We are going to try to get in as many of the hikes as we can before it starts snowing. The dogs are pretty excited about it as this is a "date" that they can go along with us.

i am buying this book tomorrow - i need it that badly! We are avid hikers - but we usually end up driving 4-6 hours north or south to get somewhere "hikable". thanks, t!

I'm a big fan of urban hiking or exploring our wonderful city. I hoping we can get some in before the weather turns too gloomy.

My fiance and I love hiking as well and used to go all the time at Bear Mountain when we lived in NYC... now that we're in Memphis I'm going to have to find areas close. The book is such a great find!
